Welcome to
Château de Vie
The most successful art production house in the world
Pablo Picasso lived at Château de Vie (formerly Mas Notre Dame de Vie) until his death in 1973. During his time at the house he produced over $3.5 billion in art that included some of his most important works.
Since the 1920s the south of France has been the epicentre of creativity, and nowhere shone more brightly than Château de Vie. Over the decades that followed, some of the world’s most extraordinary people beat a path to its door.
They included Winston Churchill, authors F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway, artist Salvador Dali, and iconic entertainers as diverse as Charlie Chaplin, Édith Piaf and the Rolling Stones. Under a new program initiated by Rayo Withanage, the Château will honor the legends of today.

The Château de Vie
The Château sits on over three hectares of land, offering beautiful views of the sea and Bay of Cannes, the Esterel mountains and the mountains of Mougins. The property has been refurbished while remaining very similar to the house Picasso would have known. The current form is designed by famous architect and interior decorator Axel Vervoordt.

Our History
The chapel has existed on this site since pre-1259 and has welcomed luminaries such as Picasso, Rostropovich, Rubinstein, Chaplin, Cocteau, and Churchill. The house itself was transformed from a traditional farmhouse to a luxury villa in the early 20th century by Benjamin and Bridget Guinness. It was bought by Pablo Picasso in 1961.
“A true artist is not one who is inspired but one who inspires others”
